If last week’s six was rushed this week’s is ultra rushed.

I spent most of Friday digging up the previously mentioned hydrangea and swapping in the Teucrium fruticans that were also in the front garden. A picture of that for you at the end. As a result, I’m worn out. It all took a lot longer than I expected. So a quick six it is!

I’ve mentioned before how doing SixonSaturday makes me see the garden in different ways from before I started posting. I’ve always considered Autumn an ending, and never noticed just how much stuff grows in September.

Last week’s weeding is a dim memory as new seedlings have replaced my efforts. Some plants are piling on the growth they’ll need in the spring, and my pots are going gangbusters after looking limp at the end of August.

1. The best thing about this vista is that I have no idea where the orange thunbergia is planted. It’s seeded itself from last year, somewhere in this year’s pots!

2. I thought this gerbera had finished but it’s back for more.

3. Nemesia and friends. Yellows, pinks and purples.

4. Close-up of some pelargoniums. There will be a few pots with these in that will need to be brought inside for the winter months.

5. I planted some seeds this week. I’m new to this autumn seed malarkey, and I have no expectations that they’ll make it over the winter. I have, so far, some wild carrot species for an umbel area I’m hoping to create, a tray each of 3 different Nigella, some Penstemons and the biggest hit and hope, some Aruncus dioicus, which to my eye looked like sawdust. Monty planted some of this in his garden during this year’s Gardeners’ World, and I thought I’d try to grow some too.

6. Finally, the fruits of my Friday labours. It looks a lot neater in the photo than it does in real life. The new plants have arrived, so hopefully I’ll have them in by this time next week!
