A Six written on the Saturday morning it’s being published; madness!
The garden still seems to be growing like mad. I find myself in the curious position of really enjoying the weather we’ve been having, while knowing that we really need more rain.
Not much has changed this week, I have restocked my bulb pots, but they’re not very interesting, so I’ve been scrabbling around for photos.

1. At the back og the garden, I have this Fuschia in a pot. It’s looking a bit raggedy, but the polinators don’t care!
2. Speaking of pollinators, I’ve known for a long time that nettles are great for butterfly breeding. It felt like madness to actively introduce them to the garden, especially when the children were small, but a few plants have arrived of their own accord. They’re not in the best position, but I’m going to let them grow for our butterfly friends.
3. I finally finished the front rework, adding a couple more grasses towards the back of the bed. It’s something of a leap of faith. It looks pretty terrible now, worse than it did before I started. I just have to hope that this time next year, it has all come good. A lot of time, effort and a fair amount of money went into the rebuild, and I have a nagging worry it will be a disaster.
4. Some grasses that I bought on a whim, that didn’t make it into my front garden, are sitting in pots on the decking. In the low autumn sunshine, they glow a soft gold. The effect is lovely, though the picture doesn’t do it justice.
5. The amalanchier is starting to turn. The first big sign that Autumn is coming. This will no doubt be in my six for the next couple of weeks before the leaves all flutter down to the ground.
6. Finally, a slightly rubbish photo of my Salvia Amistad, which are repaying my patience and battles against slugs earlier in the year. I have taken cuttings, which seem to have rooted, so hopefully I can repeat next year.
