The garden is very much winding down as we enter October, and I find myself wondering where September went. There’s not much to show, even though I spent a fair amount of the week outside. I have started migrating my indoor and tender plants into the conservatory, and am wondering how on earth I’m going to fit them all in.

SixOnSaturday is curated by Jim at Garden Ruminations, and you can find the participation guidelines here.

Some candy stripe verbena

1. There are still some flowers doing well. This candy stripe verbena is having another lease of life in the warm, dry weather we’ve been having.

2. The great migration. The conservatory is looking pleasant and organised at the moment. Unfortunately, there are still quite a few more plants that need to be brought inside…

3. I was walking through the house to do some work at the front when I noticed the soft autumn light streaming through the window. This vase of dried seed heads was glowing. They have pretty much all been grown in the garden this year.

4. I sound like a bit of a stuck-record week on week, but I always marvel at the stuff you get for free when gardening. This mass of thunbergia seeded itself into the paving from last year’s pot. It’s a mess, but it’s a very cheerful mess.

5. More free plants, with this nasturtium which is also a rogue seed from last year’s crop.

6. Cobaea watch continues. The one at the front has reached the roof AND it’s started flowering. My two cobaea have been the success of the year, I think.

That’s it for this week. See you next time, and thanks for looking at my #SixonSaturday

The great migration hasn’t started here yet, but temperatures are dropping at night, and I’ll need to think about it in the next couple of weeks… fingers crossed I wait until the end of october… Delighted to see the Cobaea flowers!

I love free plants, as long as they don’t start trying to take over (we have one or two that are trying to do just that at the moment). I love the thunbergia!

They’re honesty, which I grew for the first time this year. They remind me of my childhood.

What a great stand you have to accommodate your succulents etc inside. I need something just like that, do you remember where you got it from, and the make?

hi Noelle, I believe it was this one. Though they don’t seem to have green ones any more https://www.robertdyas.co.uk/vegtrug-nesting-plant-stands-white
