An unexpected couple of weeks off. One for holiday, which was expected, and then last week I had a wedding to go to. I took some photos for a Six but then forgot to take my laptop away with me. I’ve added a few of them for a bonus gallery at the end.
After a couple of weeks entirely off gardening, this week I started to put the garden to bed for the winter. I’m amazed how comparatively mild things still are, but there doesn’t seem much mileage in leaving out tender plants, and I’d rather be ready than suddenly discover that the temperature dropped below freezing without warning.
Not sure how many 6’s I have left in me this year, but here’s the current state of play.
SixOnSaturday is curated by Jim at Garden Ruminations, and you can find the participation guidelines here.

1. There’s a few things still flowering in the garden including this heuchera. I love the different foliage different varieties bring, but I often forget that the spires of flowers are nice too. These ones look good against the silvery seed cases of the honesty. Honesty is a bit of weed for some, but it has been an MVP in my garden this year. A gift that keeps on giving.

2. Another MVP contender are my Salvia Amistad, which are still flowering beautifully. Deep rich purple spires. All four plants are going strong. Now I’m inside the house and its too dark to take more photos, I realise that this photo does almost nothing to capture how great they look.

3. I’ve mentioned before that this is one of the garden’s best aspects. Across the acer towards my salvias. Still looking good!

4. Here’s that Acer close up. I bought it years ago because I wanted a feathery leaved variety. I have no idea what type it is.

5. Crammed into the conservatory are all many of the plants that won’t survive the cold and damp of summer. The Ethiopian Black Bananas both grew a lot this year, and if they continue at the same rate bringing them in may become untenable. They’re also a haven for snails, so I’ve been on mollusc watch since I brought them in
6. To maximise space I bought some bathroom stands from Ikea to stand the small indoor pants and the various cutting I’ve taken. Quite pleased with how they’re working out.
As previously mentioned here a few shots that I took for last week but failed to post. The garden was at peak autumn.
That’s it for this week. See you next time, and thanks for looking at my #SixonSaturday
